NOT EVERY HANDYMAN IS CREATED EQUAL, SOME SAY THEY ARE A HANDYMAN, BUT DON'T HAVE THE ABILITIES OR TOOLS TO GET THE JOB DONE.

A Handyman is someone who performs a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks. These can include things like minor electrical and plumbing fixes, painting, small remodels and construction projects, appliance repairs, and yard maintenance. Often working on a freelance basis for homeowners.

Handyman Duties and Responsibilities
A Handyman’s day-to-day duties vary significantly depending on whether they are employed by an organization or work on a freelance basis. However, there are several common tasks associated with the job. These include:

Bid for Projects

Before a Handyman can start a project, he needs to provide a cost estimate to the client. To do this, it’s important that a handyman can accurately assess the time and materials that will be required to complete the task. If he quotes too high a price, the client may seek a lower bid elsewhere. If his price is too low, however, he may end up losing money on the job.

Troubleshoot Issues

Before a Handyman can fix an issue, they have to troubleshoot the given piece of machinery or equipment to see what is causing the malfunction. They call upon their mechanical expertise to find the cause of the problem, and then they use their problem-solving skills to figure out what tools and material are necessary for the repair.

Handyman Skills
A Handyman must have a wide range of technical know-how and manual dexterity to tackle a variety of tasks. Handymen are constantly working with their hands, operating both hand and power tools. As such, they must be trained on the proper techniques for using tools like hammers, drills, wrenches, saws and other similar tools to make repairs. When it comes to technical knowledge, Handymen have to possess a working knowledge of basic household items like refrigerators, ovens, toilets, sinks, showers, lawnmowers and any other piece of equipment that can be found around the house. In addition to these abilities and areas of knowledge, Handymen need the following skills to get a job.

Asking discovery questions to clients and actively listening to answers to gather information about a given malfunction
Creating and implementing a plan of action for repairs using various hand and power tools
